Confidence and Tolerance Limits Calculator
This calculator estimates confidence limits and tolerance limits for your data.
Confidence Limits show uncertainty about the average of the data.
Tolerance Limits show what a customer would experience. These are only calculated for non-pooled standard deviations (i.e., when data is from replicates of a single run).
Instructions
Standard Deviation can either be from repeated runs or a pooled Standard Deviation from a designed experiment.
Degrees of Freedom for repeated runs is N-1. If you are using a pooled standard deviation, use the degrees of freedom your software reports.
The Number of Replicates for the Average is typically 1 for designed experiments, but may be larger if you averaged several runs together.
