- Build on knowledge gained in DOE, SPC and similar courses
- Speed up product development and qualification
- Learn techniques to make product safer, faster, better and cheaper
- Enhance your reputation as a source of Lean Principles guidance
This course is for you:
- The scientist
- The R&D Engineer
- The R&D Manager
- R&D Technician
- The Quality, Process or Manufacturing Engineer
This two‐day Lean Principles workshop focuses on the Lean Fundamentals that are relevant to manufacturing companies, their R&D Staff and their plant‐floor Engineering Staff. This course highlights the application of Lean Principles to improve vital measurement systems, to improve or set up Statistical Process Control systems and to run better designed experiments. The course workflow includes a brief description of each principle, followed by a hands‐on exercise with pencil or paper and/or a hands‐on exercise with statistical software.
You'll practice the methods you've learned in two modules:
Module 1:
- How The Lean Thinker's Mindset creates value and wealth
- Understand the 5 key Lean Principles for Scientists, Engineers and Technicians
- Apply Lean Planning'Demand'Flow Principles to engineering work
- How to identify and eliminate waste beyond the shop floor
- Understand the value of Visual Controls
Module 2:
- Applying The Art of Subtraction in an Engineering environment
- Apply The A3 Method in an Engineering environment
- Understand A3 support tools like the Fishbone Diagram and 5 Why Analysis
- How to build a lean, visual measurement system
- How to run leaner, lower-cost designed experiments
Optional modules, time permitting:
- How to apply Lean Office Techniques in an Engineering Office
- How to use Visual Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (V-FMEA) to improve safety
Here's what you'll learn:
- How to blur the unnecessary line between Lean Thinking and Statistical Thinking
- Powerful and proven methods to improve products and processes
- How to make better business decisions
- How to improve morale across your organization
