Gage Performance Curve Generator

Gage Performance Curves are a great visual tool for presenting the results of your Measurement System Analysis. This interactive tool generates a curve showing the probability of acceptance across the range of actual values.

Instructions

Specification Limits are for your product (LSL and USL).

Test-Retest Error is the noise in your measurement system. It is also called GR&R Standard Deviation.

Accuracy = −Bias. Ideally you have calibrated your measurement system for Accuracy = 0.

You can save the GPC by right-clicking on the chart and choosing "Save image as..." to include it in a report.

GPC Setup

The chart updates automatically as you change values.

Understanding the Curve

The Gage Performance Curve shows the probability that your measurement system will accept a part (measure it within specification) for any given actual value.

Ideal curve: Would be a step function at LSL and USL (100% acceptance between limits, 0% outside).

Real measurement systems: Have gradual transitions due to measurement error, creating risk zones where parts near the spec limits may be accepted/rejected incorrectly.

A tighter curve (steeper at the spec limits) indicates better measurement system performance.
